Halo On Windows Vista

Got the same problem
2ndary logon service is started and running. But game won't install.
I suppose there is another service from which the install depends ...

Got the same problem, secondary logon enabled, drivers are up to date, vista is up to date.

Sucks, I'm going to return the game tomorrow.

I have Vista 64 bit and had this exact same issue, I couldnt install the game. I had Secondary Logon disabled in services, once I re-enabled this Halo2 installed fine.

I have the same problem. Have tryed everything, yet again a game rushed through. Even Micrsoft don't know how to fix!!!

I just returned the game, the guy at the shop told me I was like the 20th today to give the game back because it won't install.

Can someone say me what the "Secondary logon service" is called in the German Version?<br>

I've translated it Word by word, but I havn't found anything...

I am having the same problem as everyone else, my secondary log is active, I've stopped it and restarted and nothing happened. I was looking through my event log and notice that the file activate.exe had failed, which is a file in the Halo disc. It says that the side by side configuration on it was incorrect, and maybe this is what people here are having the same problem. Just thougjht I would throw that out there for anyone else that is more qualified than me to investigate it.

just jesus could help us. i stopped my antivirus and firewall, activate secondary login and found no solution!!

Jump onto your local torrent site and have a look for it.

Its just the 'setup.exe' file, and you have to copy the content from the DVD to your HD, replace the 'setup.exe' file and create a new DVD image.

Install the game from the fixed image and use your retail CD Key and everything works fine.

lol, i have not this problem but i want to say:

MS made many security for don't hack this game ( serial, register online, vista only ..) and for many persons they have to hack the game for played it.... xD

btw : fix the mouse lag with 120fps+ with some 8800 cards ( and tears btw ) and quickly, QUI-CKLY. i wanted to pay the gold account but now if they dont fix it before the next month , they can dream -.-

OK, to all you people out there sending me PM's asking for where to download the cracked installer.

I do not support pirate groups, or thier work.. This one just happened to fix a problem that even the game developers would not address.

I will not give out that information, other then "it is a torrent, it is on 99% of torrent sites, go get it yourself"

Yeh i tried all of the above answers and none of them worked so i came up with my own solution which i am very proud of, although you must have another computer to do it or you could just use a friends. What you do is, using the second computer install halo 2 (which should work on the other computer as it is only certain versions of vista that it doesn't work with. You then go to C drive, program files, microsoft games and halo 2 copy the halo 2 folder and paste it on your desktop. Once you have done this go into the folder (on the desktop) and cut out the movie file and put that on your desktop also. So you now have two folders, "Halo 2" and "movie". Using any dvd writing software you have create 2 dvd disks, one with the "Halo 2" folder on it and one with "movie" folder on it.
    Now on the computer you want to install Halo 2 onto insert the disk with the "Halo 2" folder on it and copy the file, go to My Computer, C drive, program files, Microsoft Games (if this folder is not here create a new folder and call it "Microsoft Games") now paste "Halo 2" into the Microsoft Games folder. Now insert the other disk with "movies" folder on it and copy the folder, then go to My Computer, C drive, program files, Microsoft Games, Halo 2 and paste it inside the Halo 2 folder.
    The game should now work if you double click on the halo2 file (with the picture) inside the Halo 2 folder.
    To create a desktop Halo 2 link, go to My Computer, C drive, program files, Microsoft Games, Halo 2, inside the "Halo 2" folder right click the file "halo2" (with the picture) go to "send to" in the drop down menu and click desktop.
    You should now have a fully working copy of Halo 2 on your computer, you now do not need any of the disks but you will need to enter you serial number from inside the box once you get started.

is this the only way to get it to work?
My secondary logon has been Startup Automatic the whole time! people keep saying the same thing over and over again.

can I download that then run it and use my serial to play online and all that other good stuff that the serial gives you?

vista is great. xp is its little brother
