    H2 Vista Still Terrible

So about almost a year ago I got H2 for Vista. Then I only had 1 8800 gts and the game ran absolutely horrible (I uninstalled). Now I have dual 8800 gts and another gig of ram which brings me up to 4 gigs of ram. Thinking there might of been a update that made H2 run better I re-installed H2. Guess what?

The game still runs like crap. Seriously what gives? My specs run Crysis like a dream but H2 runs so bad it is unbareable. Really is a shame.

Anybody have any tips or is there some hack that I don't know about that magically makes this game run good?

I just put it in for the first time ever and I'm very dissapointed.  I can't play online because it's WAAAAY too laggy.  The lag has nothing to do with my internet connection so what gives?  So I figure screw it, I'll just go play some campaign and guess what, CHOPPY AS HELL!  Just like a laggy game of multiplayer, so please explain to me why I cannot play this game on my computer which EXCEEDS the needed requirements.

    Re: H2 Vista Still Terrible

Y'know what's funny?  I have a freakin Nvidia 6150 SE (yes yes I know) and when I put the settings to low: game looks and runs GREAT, even BETTER Online.  Except for those cutscenes where there's a  ton of stuff going on.  My PC can run Halo CE excellently with everything maxed out, yet there was slowdown in snow levels.  I don't understand why some of you guys can't figure it out:

    Lower your resolution
    Turn off some settings
Decrease detail level (ranges from Very High, High, Medium, Low).

K well there is something wrong with your system cause the game runs perfectly for me. Silky smooth 60fps practically all the time. Both online and offline. Maxed settings at 1440x900 with 4xAA and 8xAF.

    Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 8800GTS, Vista Ultimate

Urm, well that's worrying.  There must be something wrong with your system, seriously.  Wanna know what I ran this game on recently?

    Celeron D 2.8Ghz
    1Gb RAM
    7600GT

It runs absolutely perfectly, in only keep the AA off but i could have it on.  Full settings, 1280x1024.  Around 40fps.

    Also, my friend's PC is this:  Intel Core 2 E6600 2.4Ghz.  8800GTS 640Mb.  2Gb RAM.

His system runs it maxed out to the top at almost 150fps.

I really don't know why your system isn't running it well.  Check drivers, check you Hard Drive and check you don't have Security Software running in the background.

Yea definitely check your drivers and any vista updates you may not have installed. I'm running on a slow ass pentium 4! which can run vista damn good for a single core and dual 8600 GTS in SLI and I got settings maxed out and it runs great, sure lag every now and then but look at my procc.

    Re: H2 Vista Still Terrible

Get your drivers updated. Last night i started playing again and it works fine becasue i updated my drivers. I first played the game on my old 7900GT at max settings with 50+fps but that was after going into the video options ever time i loaded into a new match and re-enabling AA. I would get terrible FPS until after i would re-enable AA(clicking on the AA setting again in video options). Anywho, now i have a 9600GT and the game runs on avg of 75fps. The game is pretty poorly optimized, which is probably the problem. However, lately i have been experiencing sound lag. I used to play the game fine with no sound issues whatsoever but now it's pretty bad.

Aside from technical issues, this game's MP is down the shoot. This game has so much more potential and it's just wasted. There's like a max of 50 people on ever day, lol...

    Re: H2 Vista Still Terrible

I just bought the game and now see that it says it is for 32 bit Vista.  I have 64 bit on my computer.  Before I break the seal I wondered if it will work on 64 bit or is there a different 64 bit version?

    Re: H2 Vista Still Terrible

Yes, it should work just fine on the 64bit version. Every game bearing the "Games for Windows" logo should work with both 32bit vista and 64bit vista.

    Re: H2 Vista Still Terrible

Yep it works on Vista 64bit editions and all versions of Vista.

Wow man you have the exact same problem I have, and it really ticks me off when I lose to people I'd generally beat, and usually, I have the best connection in a game. My computer also has a brand new hard drive, so it should work like a dream. I really want this fixed so I could own online.
