I recently reinstalled H2V and found some difficulties updating it.
However, ALT+TABbing in and out a few times (The game, in the middle of
the update), then checking in the task manager to see if anything else
was hogging the memory and then it reassumed the updating process.
Do you have any other LIVE-based game? You could try to update LIVE through that one.
There's a new LIVE bundle in the Windows update, but I'm not sure if it holds any of the GFWL critical files in it.
If
H2V doesn't prompt you at all to update then it could be having trouble
to access the net, then you should see if there's any software
conflicting with it (not just the firewall) and close stuff through the
task manager.
