Something related to GFWL is buried somewhere in the Vista profile that MS can't find yet. I spent hours with Gilgamesh trying different things (reinstall H2V, reset LIVE, edit the registry, reset machine id for LIVE, and so on...), in the end all it took was a new Vista profile.
I know recreating a profile can be a pain, especially since ...

What are your thoughts on adding ''Create a new profile under Vista and test Halo 2 using that profile''?
It seems to be working for more and more people and honestly, it is a lot quicker than defrag, driver updates and the other items. Driver Updates are very important, no doubt there.
But maybe this will help out Gilgamesh and the ...

If that method of update doesn't work immediately, play around under the LIVE account area and I think you can force an update from ...

Try creating a new Vista account, log in to that and try Halo 2. If it works, then Gilgamesh has another machine with the same symptons as mine. :)

once you plug directly in to your modem, it is a good idea to unlpug the power from your modem and wait 10 seconds before plugging it back in. This will enable you to get an IP, try IE first before loading Halo 2 to ensure it is working.
